Budgets
Monthly spending caps for the organization and each key.
Budgets are optional monthly hard caps, in USD, on the organization and on each API key, per calendar month (UTC).
- A key's call must fit both its own cap and the organization's. Playground calls count against the organization's.
- A call that would go over is refused with
402 budget_exceeded, which says which budget and when it resets (the first of next month). Refused calls are not billed. - Calls are admitted on their estimated cost; the last one admitted can end slightly over a cap (by at most one call). The next one is refused.
- Alerts: owners, admins and billing members get an email when a budget reaches the alert level (80% by default) and at 100%, once per budget per month.
Turn on the organization's budget under Billing → Monthly budget (owners, admins and billing members). Set a key's budget on API Keys (owners and admins).
