Best Practices

Organize Logically

Group related metrics together:
✅ Good organization:
- KPIs at top
- Detailed breakdowns below
- Related metrics grouped
- Clear section headers

❌ Poor organization:
- Random metric placement
- No visual hierarchy
- Missing context

Design for Your Audience

Executive board:
- High-level KPIs
- Trend lines
- Minimal detail

Analyst board:
- Detailed breakdowns
- Multiple dimensions
- Tables with raw data

Team board:
- Actionable metrics
- Target comparisons
- Recent changes

Keep It Focused

✅ Good: 5-8 focused components per board
→ Easy to scan, clear story

❌ Avoid: 20+ components crammed together
   → Information overload

Use Text for Context

Add explanatory text:
[Header] Conversion Funnel

[Text] This week's funnel shows a 15% improvement in
signup-to-activation conversion. The main driver is
the onboarding flow launched on Monday.

Refresh Considerations

Board data refreshes when viewed. For large boards:
  • Consider splitting into multiple boards
  • Use summary views for dashboards
  • Link to detailed reports

Managing Boards

Duplicating

  1. Open board
  2. Click Duplicate
  3. Modify the copy as needed

Deleting

  1. Open board
  2. Click Delete
  3. Confirm deletion
Deleting a board is permanent. The saved reports within are not deleted—only removed from the board.

Organizing

Use folders or naming conventions:
Boards:
├── [Exec] Weekly KPIs
├── [Exec] Monthly Review
├── [Product] Feature Adoption
├── [Product] User Flows
├── [Marketing] Campaign Performance
└── [Marketing] Channel Analysis
